“Richard Anthony Jay, in a Washington Subway, to great ambient effect”
Verity Sharp, Late Junction, BBC Radio 3

“Richard Anthony Jay is hard to pin down, in musical terms. His music is a mix of classical chillout, modern classical and ambient chamber”
Bob Jones, Arts Daily, ClassicFM

"Here's a smashing neo classical CD by a fella called Richard Anthony Jay. It's called 'This Is What I Live For' and it's a fine example of beautiful chamber music. Lots of strings and pianos combine to make some really gorgeously moving arrangements. It's very emotive indeed and I'm reminded of folks like Yann Tiersen, Michael Nyman and Max Richter with the way the music builds and flows. It's all very maudlin and it's making me weep all over the huge pie I'm eating. Actually that's not strictly true (it's only a small pie....) but it's a highly emotive collection of pieces. If you're into neo classical gear then this is a must!! He's been making music for 20 years and here's his debut album so you know when someone spends that long on a record it's going to be worth it!"
Norman Records

"It's no secret that modern classical has received a shot in the arm in the last few years from a group of young, innovative artists producing provocative, tantalizing music. Richard Anthony Jay's debut fits in comfortably with this group, but the dramatic twist is that at the age of thirty-six, Jay doesn't share the same youthfulness of his peers. Jay has spent the last two decades in the music industry in one form or another and has experienced the ups and downs of financial success and artistic dissatisfaction. This is What I Live For is informed by the artist's personal struggles and benefits from it in terms of maturity. Jay successfully crafts an album of great instrumental dexterity and narrative prowess that should easily enchant admirers of the genre. Recommended for fans of Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi, and Olafur Arnalds"
The Silent Ballet

“Contemporary, intricate and haunting … features an impressive roll-call of guest musicians”
MUSO magazine, June/July 09 issue
